That´s the castle of Petzenkirchen, my hometown. The castle was built arround 1364 and got into royal hands in 1823. They used it for staying over and going for a hunt in the forrests arround the town. I also heard that once there should´ve been water arround the castle, but now there isn´t any!
Since 1945 the castle belongs to a university, to the BOKU - University of Natural Resources and Applied Life Sciences (main part in Vienna) and there´s a laboratory inside.
The castle´s only 20 meters away from the house of my dad and even it was about -5° I made a small walk there and get you a photo. =) It look so good in the sunshine and I don´t know how long we´ll´ve got some sun... tomorrow it can be cloudy or snowy again! On the ground you can even see a bit snow, but the main part already melted.

holy cow! I can't imagine so much as breathing in -5 degree weather ... much less going for a walk in it. is that Celsius?
ReplyDeleteLove the castle, and the bit of history you've given us. This is the kind of thing I was hoping for in having so many people from different parts of the world participate in this project.
Love it, Christina.
well.. it was quite cold.. so.. I only went there, took some photos and got back home ; ) .. than I had a hot soup *g* .. I really needed it! When it´s so cold I don´t want to go out.. it´s just tooo cold for me! Luckily I´m still at home during christmas-holidays, otherwise I´d ´ve to be in Vienna and yeah.. go to the university every day..
ReplyDeletethanks =) ... didn´t know if you´d like to see a bit from my odd town.. so.. I just tried it - if you want, I can show you more! ; )
