Harry: Day 20, 21, 22

I'm back everyone. This week has kindof been insane. I had two hundred thousand million things to do, and I fairly well successfully reversed my schedule back to the being awake in the day way all at the same time. Anyhoo, none of that really matters now. Tonight was "Martha Stewart Holiday Craft Gay Bingo," (It's a once a month AIDS charity fundraiser with a ridiculous theme each month. The bingo is really second to the hoot of a show that goes on.) so The first picture is of my friend Amber, the second is of one of her festive holiday crafts, and the third is a photo of my friend Matt. I don't know if it's just me or not, but I find something enjoyable about taking less than flattering photos of people. Maybe it's me being a jerk subconsciously, or maybe it's more of a challenge to make the people unflattering and have the photo still hold up. I don't know. I'll muse more about this later I'm sure.

Harry: Day 19

I seem to be using this blog for the time being as somewhat of a slice of life thing, rather than trying out some new ideas with my more serious photography. I'm sure the content will shift over the next year so I'm not really worried. I'm trying to change my schedule (read: I'm overtired/cranky), and it rained today so there isn't an exterior as I had hoped for. Instead you get the awkward turtle sponge in the bathroom.

Harry: Day 18

So, after spending all day in my little work box, I spent a few hours running yet more of the cables on my desk. Now y'all may finally understand why this project of "redoing my desk" has been taking up all of my life. It's a little more than halfway done, so none of the cable routing is finalized yet. After looking at this photo I have decided to move a few of them around anyway. You can see the back of the patchbays, pretty much all of the open connectors will have something connecting to them when I'm finished. Must get out of the house more. Must get out of the house more. Must get out of the house more. Oh, and I'm never moving again. Ever.
*cries*

Harry: Day 16, 17

So I totally spaced Friday night on posting. I recently remember now one of the first assignments we had in my first color photography class. Go and take photos of black and white things in color. I really can't quite remember what the purpose of the activity was, but I might give it a shot again. These two are of the brick exterior wall of my apartment.

Harry: Day 15

The fine quality of the wiring of the sign prompted me to take this one. Day 3 of using the internet through my phone, so this is going to be it for tonight.

Harry: Day 14

Here are two more of the pipes that I think are a bit so-so. I would have posted a few more but I'm using internet through my phone at the moment. I don't think I love them as much as the first, and there were a few more I was going to upload but possibly I'll do that tomorrow, as delightful as the 20 minutes was it took to upload those two. *cries*

Harry: Day 13

Well, finally, I took a photo today that I'm a good deal happier with than most of the last few I've taken. I spent a while with these pipes at the hockey arena earlier. I may post a few more tomorrow. I couldn't quite decide if i liked this one more or some of the wider shots, but for now I think I like this one more.

Harry: Day 12

In case I'm a bit spotty for the next few days, my internet has decided not to work. Well, it probably does, but the power supply for my modem/router does not. I just made way too much pumpkin muffin batter. I ran out of muffin tins. I already made 12 of them and this is what's left. I also slept WAY too late today, this is why I'm still up making muffins at 4AM.

Harry: Day 11

I had a bit much fun playing with white balance trims tonight. I need to work on some content now. Le sigh.

Harry: Day 10

I'm still seemingly stuck on the texture concept thing. Perhaps we should all try a theme or something. Also, Allison, I swore I left a comment for your lamp picture and I can't find it now.

Harry: Day 9

I was at work today from 330pm to 1am, so y'all get yet another photo from work. There's something about this photo I like, but I think I'm still slightly bothered by the massive amount of out of focus foreground on the left side. Thoughts anyone?

Harry: Day 8

After spending much of the day attempting to fruitlessly arrange all the things on my desk (yes, again), I thought I would take a photo of the midrange driver of my speakers. These little buggers are really the root of the problem, they just don't quite fit ANYWHERE, or at least anywhere that they don't sound awful.

Harry: day 7

Since I've been on this infernal quest to redo my desk for the past few days my creativity feels completely shot. I need to force myself outside to take some actual photos, or at least something that isn't just on my desk. One of the pens has a broken clip. Can you find it?

Harry: Day 5

I made this delicious pasta thing for dinner, and going off Allison's texture post from yesterday I felt like I needed to take a photo of it once it cooled. I can't quite decide if it actually looks appetizing or revolting.

Harry: Day 4

This is where I work. I spend about 30 hours a week in this little box projecting the same movie over and over and over again. That little pink chair isn't very comfortable. And I wonder why I'm not feeling creative these days.

Harry: Day 3

So, I'm in the process of rewiring my desk and all of the cables are everywhere. This is one of the smaller piles, but it at least had some interesting colors. Nothing really spoke to me today for some reason.

Harry: Day 2

Graham & the Spin-N-Win. A bunch of us went out to Dave and Busters after thanksgiving dinner and I snapped a few shots on a REALLY expired roll of Tri-X 320. I never really liked that emulsion much, so hopefully you won't be seeing much more of it. I think I only have one more roll of it floating around (thankfully). I found two rolls of exposed film in my fridge today and I have absolutely no idea what's on them or where they are from so I'm going to run those soon and possibly post something from them if there's anything on them worth looking at. I didn't really do too much to the shot other than spot a few bits of dust off. My scanner <3's dust.

Harry: Day 1

I had such high hopes for myself for the start of this project. Like pretty much everything else I've ever done, they were a bit on the lofty side and I'm already running egregiously behind. I know this is already officially Friday, but since I haven't yet gone to sleep it's still going to be my Day 1 post. Day 2 will be up after I've been to sleep, and I'm going to try and keep a bit more on track after that.

Anyhoo, since it's now after 3AM and I'd like to be getting to sleep soon I'll keep this on the shorter side. I want to use this project as a way to rekindle my love of photography. I'll fully admit I've gotten a bit sloppy and lazy with it since I went digital about three years ago. My goal is to get back to a place where I'm photographing more interesting subject matter and really thinking about what I'm shooting, not just shooting everything in my field of vision because I can. I'm sure we've all been there, taking eleventy billion photos of something uninteresting in the hopes one of them will accidentally become interesting.

I'm thinking as of the moment I want to go back to using more film and less digital. If you've met me, you know I'll change my mind nine hundred times over, but at least it's my intention as of now. If nothing else, the limited shot count should be helpful in making said shots count. That being said I'm planning on posting all sorts of photos this year. I'm not going to exclusively stick to making compelling fine art nonsense photos. Most of them will probably be some sort of glimpse into my bizarre day to day life, surely some of them will be conceptual, and others a study in technique. Whatever they are, I'm sure this will be a highly beneficial activity.

I took two rolls of film earlier today (er, yesterday at this point), but by the time I got home with them I had no desire to actually process the film. Hopefully I'll get around to that once I wake up later and they can make for my Day 2 photo. So, starting off my entries with a complete lie is the photo above. I didn't take it today, but I did scan it today. (poorly, but that's irrespective at this point). It's something I shot last summer, off the first test film I put through a new camera. It's on Fuji Velvia 50 and reminded me of warm weather, something we're rather lacking up here at the moment.
