Patrick: Week One - At A Slow Pace, but I'm Catching Up

Good Evening,

So, This is my first image for this project and it is, well, its my ear. I don't do face shots but I figured that an introduction was in order so. Here it is. What you get to know of me.

This is prior to my haircut when I had blue highlights, which I miss ever so much; though, there really isn't much I can do about it now.

This is my photograph for day two.

It is entitled Love.

I'm not terribly good at being random so I figured I would give myself themes to look for during my day. This one just struck me as being somewhat ironic. Not somuch in the obvious sense that animals generally don't bite things they are fond of, but in the sense that my cat does.

The Cat is Yuki Eiri, by the way. He's def. my baby. If I had a child - he would be it.

Day three. This one is called Dark.

This one. Is ever so special to me cuz. Chocolate always catches my eye. I swear. I have a cocoa-dar or something cuz I can hunt down the stuff from a mile away. I love it and always have some on hand. Why not photograph it?

This piece is entitled Light. It is a piece I took one random night but I figured I would clean it up for day four.

This image is of the moon; though you can't really see it that well. I don't know why I was inspired to take this photograph. It just struck me as being somewhat odd to see the moon so clearly as it was that evening I suppose.

In any case, I find the appearing of the full moon facinating. That and the air is different on those evenings. Behold the wonders of gravity.

Anyway, this is a simple image, but it has a lot to say if you listen carefully. You know. See sounds and hear colors. *shruggs*

Day five. This canteen. Is amazing.

The piece is entitled Rot.

This piece is pretty much a statement supporting my father who is VERY into going green. He actually bought this 20 dollar stainless steel jug as a Christmas gift for me.

Now, I carry it everywhere. And water that doesn't taste like petro-chemicals or have an experation date is growing on me.

January sixth. Break.

Vitamins are kinda important. I mean. The majority of what is in them generally doesn't make it into your system; but, ya know. They help.

Anyway, during high school I took a lot of diet pills so this one just reminded me of that struggle with image. I called it break because my esteem issues kinda. Broke me. More of a personal thing than an art piece but, whatever.

This is my final submission for week one.

This piece is entitled heaven. Its kinda silly but I was lieing down and I looked at the ceiling fan and it reminded me of the saying a light at the end of the tunnel so. Then I wondered what would happen if you met someone who wanted to go into the light. Ya know....

In any case, I think the picture explains itself pretty well in conjunction with the title.

Okay, so this it is for week one. I'm open to critic, but a gentle approach is appreciated. Suggestions are also appreciated, especially regarding night photography.

These images were all dark roomed and cropped to 8x10 (or 10x8) from roughly 34x42s or something like that. I also desaturated spots in Introduction and Dark.

That's it for now. Have a pleasant evening.

  1. personally, i think the pills photograph is the best of the bunch for you. There is no lack of detail in that photograph. Are they in a bottle cap?

Seriously. It's very ... industrial. Which is strange, because I felt it very personal at the same time. I just like it. I feel like a pharmaceutical company could use it . . . or Vitamin World.

  3. Thank you.

Yes. The pills are in a bottle cap. Though, it wasn't the cap to the vitamin bottle.

I'm glad youse feel that it is a successful image.

I also like the picture of my cat but it hurt when he did it.

  4. I can personally relate to the picture "Love". My cats do that all the time; we'll be playing nicely and then they just decide to latch on, but when I say ouch, they usually give me kisses where they bit me. They're my babies too, so I know exactly what you're saying! I also really liked "Heaven". It's a very unique picture! Very beautiful!
