Mat Ryan: Day # LOST

These past few weeks have been hell for us all. It's the holidays, so it's been a time for family, friends, snowboarding, not staying in my room, not getting to a computer, leaving my camera at home, and I could do this all from my iPhone, but I don't want to be one of those douchebags.
To further prevent being one of those douchebags, I'm only going to post one picture from a Christmas party at my friends house. The setup took about 20 minutes, include a chair, a cassette tape, a flimsy tripod, and may or may not have involved massive quantities of alcohol; I mean "holiday cheer".
Merry Christmas, everyone, and may I get caught up and back on track ASAP.

Monday, December 20, 2010

wow.

clearly this week has been hell on everyone. Obviously we all have a lot to do in these last days of 2010.

My memory card reader broke and I JUST realized my boyfriend's desktop has a compact flash reader built in. Holy crap.

Anyway, I will be back dating some of my posts. Don't worry about going back to all of them. I just want them posted on the actual dates because it'll be easier when I look back.

Back to the project.

Alison: Day 23

This is my piggy bank. It's a traffic light. And it's full, but I have no desire to count and wrap it all to cash it in at the bank. Although a hefty deposit it would make into my savings account....

Alison: Day 22 -- Nh-Nh-Nhyya!

My god daughter. She's going to be three in February and I'm stoked. She's growing up so quickly, but it's fascinating.

Anyway, she's never thrilled about hats, but this one was too funny, too furry and TOO big.

Alison: Day 21 -- Panera with a cold.

I didn't forget about the blog, I've just been so under the weather and inundated with work and other work that I haven't had time to try and replace my broken memory card reader. Those things seem to be made so cheaply anymore. This is my second one is as many years, I'm sure. It's annoying.

Anyway, here is my dinneron a day when I was scheduled to work a 16 hour day, but got called and told I wasn't needed at my second job after all. Thank God, considering I was completely riddled with flu. =(

Harry: Day 20, 21, 22

I'm back everyone. This week has kindof been insane. I had two hundred thousand million things to do, and I fairly well successfully reversed my schedule back to the being awake in the day way all at the same time. Anyhoo, none of that really matters now. Tonight was "Martha Stewart Holiday Craft Gay Bingo," (It's a once a month AIDS charity fundraiser with a ridiculous theme each month. The bingo is really second to the hoot of a show that goes on.) so The first picture is of my friend Amber, the second is of one of her festive holiday crafts, and the third is a photo of my friend Matt. I don't know if it's just me or not, but I find something enjoyable about taking less than flattering photos of people. Maybe it's me being a jerk subconsciously, or maybe it's more of a challenge to make the people unflattering and have the photo still hold up. I don't know. I'll muse more about this later I'm sure.

Alison: Day 20

This is the scene on the other side of the garden the next day. After one sun-up and one sun-down, there were STLL monster icicles. That's saying a lot for Florida, you know. =)

Anyway. Take a look at the cabbages in the bottom of the photo. FROZEN solid and yet, they survived.

Alison: Day 19 genius farmer.

Alright, this is a tree in my neighbor's yard the FIRST night it dropped below freezing.

He left his sprinkler on and did what I presumed was systematically murder all the cabbage he planted and tended until the almost perfect maturity... little did I know it would survive being totally frozen for a few days straight -- as you'll possibly see in the next day's photo.

Harry: Day 19

I seem to be using this blog for the time being as somewhat of a slice of life thing, rather than trying out some new ideas with my more serious photography. I'm sure the content will shift over the next year so I'm not really worried. I'm trying to change my schedule (read: I'm overtired/cranky), and it rained today so there isn't an exterior as I had hoped for. Instead you get the awkward turtle sponge in the bathroom.

Alison: Day 18

These are the poinsettias that Jon-Michael bought me for Christmas. Beautiful, but toxic to kitties.

Harry: Day 18

So, after spending all day in my little work box, I spent a few hours running yet more of the cables on my desk. Now y'all may finally understand why this project of "redoing my desk" has been taking up all of my life. It's a little more than halfway done, so none of the cable routing is finalized yet. After looking at this photo I have decided to move a few of them around anyway. You can see the back of the patchbays, pretty much all of the open connectors will have something connecting to them when I'm finished. Must get out of the house more. Must get out of the house more. Must get out of the house more. Oh, and I'm never moving again. Ever.
*cries*

Jared Day 16: Rotten To The Core

Despite the title this apple was pretty good. Afraid that's all I've got tonight, not really feeling it today.

Alison: Day 17 -- anatomy of the dead.

Went to a picnic and found this guy on the steps headed out to the dock. He's totally dead. Appears his head was crushed. This is how I found him. As gruesome as this may seem, I really should have taken a picture of his bulging eye and blood-crusted mouth I discovered upon flipping him over. Weeee!

Harry: Day 16, 17

So I totally spaced Friday night on posting. I recently remember now one of the first assignments we had in my first color photography class. Go and take photos of black and white things in color. I really can't quite remember what the purpose of the activity was, but I might give it a shot again. These two are of the brick exterior wall of my apartment.

Alison: Day 16 Dusty candle holder.

That is pretty much all there is to it. It's dusty; I never light it. Here it is with a fairly shallow depth of field.

Voila.

Alison: Day 15 -- thimbles

This is a small fraction of my thimble collection. Weird, I know, but I have them. These are two of my favorites. I think the poor lighting left something to be desired. Meh.

Jared Day 15: She's Choppin' Broccoli...

My recent play with food and close ups continues with tonights entree.

Harry: Day 15

The fine quality of the wiring of the sign prompted me to take this one. Day 3 of using the internet through my phone, so this is going to be it for tonight.

Mat Ryan, Days 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14

I've slacked this week, a couple are recent but the others are old stock and some them are on my facebook. Part of just wanted to share the roadkill with the world. I hope I didn't disturb your lunch.
I'll get more taste and fall back into the swing of things soon.

Alison: Day 14 - wine time.

This is the season for drinking. I think.

This shot is just a couple of bottles of wine I keep ready on the dining room table and a couple candles.

I'm still experimenting with varied lighting situations. I like exploring different settings like these.

Mat Ryan: Day 8

My girlfriend left her shirt at my house, so i hung it up and thought it looked cool under the fedora.
Sorry for posting late, I'll get caught up after I go bowling.

Harry: Day 14

Here are two more of the pipes that I think are a bit so-so. I would have posted a few more but I'm using internet through my phone at the moment. I don't think I love them as much as the first, and there were a few more I was going to upload but possibly I'll do that tomorrow, as delightful as the 20 minutes was it took to upload those two. *cries*

Jared Day 14: Smoked Salmon

Close up of my second dinner tonight, Thinly sliced smoked salmon on top of a toasted bagel with cream cheese. I'm trying to quit smoking right now so pretty much all I want to do is eat. This may or may not be the first of many food photos to come...

Alison: Day 13 Laying with Lions

These are my slippers. Pretty glorious and always a conversation piece for house guests.

Jared Day 13: Steve Irwin Would Be Pissed!

Yeah, This here is a close up of one of my crocodile skin boots. I thought it looked kinda cool with the light hitting it so I snapped this right quick so I can go to sleep now.

Day 13: Alison's Christmas Tree

I think I warned you guys about the number of Christmas tree photos you might see from me. I like exploring the different lighting. You know, blah blah blah.

Here's what I got tonight:

Harry: Day 13

Well, finally, I took a photo today that I'm a good deal happier with than most of the last few I've taken. I spent a while with these pipes at the hockey arena earlier. I may post a few more tomorrow. I couldn't quite decide if i liked this one more or some of the wider shots, but for now I think I like this one more.

Jared Day 12: Drum Head Painting

My lady painted this on one of my old, thrashed bass drum heads. She actually did a whole series of drum head paintings of all different sizes. This one is hanging up in our place.

Harry: Day 12

In case I'm a bit spotty for the next few days, my internet has decided not to work. Well, it probably does, but the power supply for my modem/router does not. I just made way too much pumpkin muffin batter. I ran out of muffin tins. I already made 12 of them and this is what's left. I also slept WAY too late today, this is why I'm still up making muffins at 4AM.

Alison : Day 12 -- bedside.

These are the books currently residing on my bedside table, a table -- mind you -- that my boyfriend uses more than me. Technically I have my own bedside table, but you guys know how women get... we take over everything!

Guess which book is mine?

The second book down is called Idiot's Guide to Getting Rich. And the fourth book is ESPN25 (25 mind-bending, eye-popping, culture-morphing years of highlights). And the magazine at the very bottom is, of course, Playboy.

Jared Day 11: Metal Owl

3:00 am, Rum & Dr. Pepper and 1960's metal owl sculptures. Cheers...

Harry: Day 11

I had a bit much fun playing with white balance trims tonight. I need to work on some content now. Le sigh.

Alison: Day 11. signage.

This is boring, but funny. I'll be honest and say so far I really haven't been trying to capture anything extremely interesting. I haven't gone out of my way. =(

Here's a sign from a local place I visited for the first time -- The Ocala Wine Experience. It's been in my town for 12 years and foreigners own/run the place. I'll need to go back ... you know, for research, of course.

This sign is in the bathroom.

Jared Day 10: Alison, I See Your Cat Photo And Raise You One

So I've been up for 27 hours and can't seem to find sleep... So I decided to mess with the cat. I can't believe I got her to move only her head for 30 seconds.

Harry: Day 10

I'm still seemingly stuck on the texture concept thing. Perhaps we should all try a theme or something. Also, Allison, I swore I left a comment for your lamp picture and I can't find it now.

Alison Day 10: We're already into double digit days!

this is Olive. He is the only thing worth taking a picture of tonight. And he's pretty displeased with the fact that I was taking them. Oh well. Today was a day that I didn't do much venturing out for photographs.

Seems like we're all kind of humdrum lately, right?

Jared Day 9: Ho Hum

My workday left me pretty unenthusiastic, having said that please enjoy this crappy picture of stale popcorn.

Friday, December 3, 2010

Harry: Day 9

I was at work today from 330pm to 1am, so y'all get yet another photo from work. There's something about this photo I like, but I think I'm still slightly bothered by the massive amount of out of focus foreground on the left side. Thoughts anyone?

Alison Day 9: Lampshadez.

This is my bedside lamp. Yeah, I got nothing. Again, I find textures fascinating, but who wouldn't. I like examining tight crops like this one, or Harry's speaker photo, and really searching to find something unusual about the image. I can't really pinpoint what I find unusual about this one, but I enjoy the feeling of it for sure.

Harry: Day 8

After spending much of the day attempting to fruitlessly arrange all the things on my desk (yes, again), I thought I would take a photo of the midrange driver of my speakers. These little buggers are really the root of the problem, they just don't quite fit ANYWHERE, or at least anywhere that they don't sound awful.
